but to go back, i think it's important that for these systems like copyright that are system-wide, they should think of society as a whole as well, because they are neglecting it right now, and it's causing many issues with innovation and further fracturing. i think we should focus on systems like that that protect the individual but do not harm the society...such a way would be to promote copyright not as a sort of pinkerton thing anymore but rather as a temporary display case for the work, and the museum of our culture should be curated according to the generation it's in, not the generations before--we've had a lot of issues in america with leakage from archaic ideologies seeping back through due to this "generation culture bleed" imo and each new generation should be a new opportunity to sit and critique what we have and to create something new from what was there. but copyright and such systems prevent critique from being applicable because derivitives cannot be made. an example of this in practice is this server--this server is a direct critique of how Trickster operated. every change we make is a conversation and a statement regarding the original. i think that's important. i think that's really being diminished due to copyright abuse by artists right now and their insistence of silencing works that do not agree with them and bastardizing whatever the artist even thinks "fair use" means anymore.
